“Here’s a trivia question for you:  What do Okinawa (Japan), Loma Linda (California), Sardinia (Italy), and Ikaria (Greece) have in common?

If you guessed that these are the places in the world where people tend to live to 100, then you win the prize.  These areas have been popularized and labeled as “Blue Zones” from a book written by Dan Buettner about longevity.  Because most people yearn to live a long and healthy life (including yours truly), there is great interest in what causes people in these areas to live longer.

My personal reading/research led me to a survey that purports to estimate my healthy life expectancy and how I can improve on that score if I optimized my lifestyle.  I imagine it wouldn’t surprise you to learn that among the drivers of a long and healthy life are these:  a strong sense of purpose; a network of friends/family; physical labor/exercise; a diet of nutritious, mostly plant-based food,  and drinking a glass or two of red wine.

I’ve got a list of recommendations to follow as a result of the survey I took.  One that will not be hard for me is to continue my passion for Amazing Care.  Time and again, it affirms the value of a network of friends and family to help us age well and gracefully.

Here’s to your growing network!
