0c5742fIn a conversation with Terry Lorant, our talented photographer and gifted journalist, it was discovered that I was from Iowa. She shared a beautiful story about her mother-in-law who was from Iowa before concluding, “Hope the connection is a positive one for you as well.” I can honestly say that my memories from Iowa range the full gamut of verbs and adjectives. One of the quirky things that came to mind were the odd sayings you would hear. One that relates to this particular month for me is a saying about some of the towns you would drive through. They were called “blink and you’ll miss it” towns. Now…you can only imagine what that means, and I’m pleased to share that the smallest “blink and you’ll miss it” town that I’ve personally been through had a population of 12.

My home is now in the Bay Area of California, and I haven’t been able to use that phrase since leaving Iowa 31 years ago until now. I can’t say it about any towns in my locale, but I think we can say it about life in general. The months of May and June are filled with graduations of every type. We count these milestones as precious memories. FaceBook and SnapChat are filled with graduation photos from friends and family. My niece’s son graduated from kindergarten. My son, Connor, is graduating from high school this month. I shared with a new mother recently to cherish every moment as they grow-up so fast; “blink and you’ll miss it”.

The month of May was filled with lots of activities for the Amazing Care Network including four teas and the launch of a new product (a press release is coming soon). We’ve celebrated Mother’s Day, honored Memorial Day and also Mental Health Awareness Month. June promises a continued flurry of activities and growth for ACN as we continue to expand our reach. We will celebrate Father’s Day, more graduations, National Smile Month and, my personal Iowa favorite, Watermelon Seed Spitting Week. Yes, we actually did this at our family reunions, but I never won.

From my newly appointed presidential desk to your home, I invite you to hug someone you love today. Of course it goes without saying, please read the June Newsletter first. Don’t let a “blink and you’ll miss it” moment pass you by. Make it an AMAZING month!
