We had a great Afternoon Tea in San Diego on Friday, February 2, 2018 at the Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club. Our speaker, Dr. Bob Uslander (www.drbobuslander.com) shared “Emerging Trends in End-of-Life Care”. Below is a short recap of what we learned from Amazing Care Network’s CEO and Founder, Cora Tellez.

We’ve had back-to-back Amazing Care events that discuss emerging trends in end-of-life care.  On February 2, San Diego members heard from Dr. Bob Uslander, and on February 6, Bay Area members learned about this topic from Drs. Linda Spangler and Lonny Shavelson.  I’ve been reflecting on both events and how much this topic has impacted my life.

As many of you know, Pablo,  my husband of 42 years, suffered from the devastating effects of metastatic cancer for several years.  His physical deterioration accelerated late last year and led to his assignment to hospice care.  A strong-willed and independent man, Pablo wanted to define the terms of his exit.  The California death-with-dignity law enabled him to put his wishes to action.  I am grateful to Drs. Uslander and Spangler for attending to my husband and helping him and our family throughout the process.  I discussed our personal journey at both events.

This is a difficult topic, one that is hard to discuss in any setting.  The Amazing Care events provided a safe forum to have these difficult conversations and for our members to learn, to ask questions, to probe alternatives.  I’ve heard from attendees at both events and the reactions have been overwhelmingly positive.  I am grateful to our physician presenters for explaining the law to us, for helping us understand the nuances of how the law is implemented, and for providing resources for us to use if and when we need more information about end-of-life care.

We hope to see you at our upcoming events. Learn more HERE!
