Important Tips:

  • Find a comfortable place that’s quiet, has good lighting and that your internet access is good
  • It’s a good idea to avoid distractions – like from cell phones, televisions, or other devices – during your visit and if others are present in the house, closing your door and placing a sign to prevent interruptions, makes good sense
  • Log in 5-10 minutes ahead of your visit so you feel comfortable that you are able to connect to the link you have been given
  • It’s best to avoid having a window directly behind you since your image can be darkened and therefore difficult to be seen
  • Testing out the lighting and making sure your image is clear – not fuzzy or dark – makes good sense
  • Check that whatever device you are using, like your computer, iPad, iPhone, or other pad, is working properly
    • This includes your sound level – that you are not muted and that your microphone is working
    • It’s best that your camera is hitting you at your eye level
  • Make sure that your device is fully charged and plugged in, so you don’t run out of “juice” during your time with MPA
  • While a wired connection is always best when using your computer if available, your visit can work just fine using WIFI as your connection
  • With whatever device is being used, it’s important to close as many unnecessary programs or other apps as possible.
  • Think ahead about what you want to know, what you do or do not understand about your medical condition/issue, what you might have forgotten to ask
    • Write these down so you have them in front of you when your visit begins
  • If you voluntarily wish to share your private health information (called PHI or “protected health information”) in the form of laboratory reports, diagnostic imaging reports (x-ray, MRI, CT, nuclear studies, ultrasound), procedure/surgery reports with Dr. Feren, it’s best to let him know in advance and instructions will be forwarded to you
    • NOTE: All PHI is transmitted and received securely (end-to-end encryption) with no access to unauthorized individuals
  • In some instances, you may not want to see yourself during your visit with MPA
    • Depending upon what type of platform is being used for your visit, you can either cover up part of your screen with a Post-It note or use special settings on the platform that will hide your image
  • It’s important to know that with all technology and especially internet connections, there is always the possibility that glitches that may occur
    • Please know that Dr, Feren will work with you, when possible, to resolve these or reschedule your visit so that you have the necessary amount of time to address your issue(s) with Dr
